Congrats on your new record. Tell us about it.

Thanks! Well, it is our third album. We recorded it in Berlin and in Brooklyn. It's a bit more sad than the other two albums. That wasn't on purpose... Just happened. But I am happy it is like that, because it is different. I also think the cover art came out better than we could have hoped, thanks to Johnny Sampson!

How was your tour? Would you like to tell us about the Kentucky incident?

The tour was successful in that a LOT of people came out to the shows and had fun. That was cool. But because of what happened in Kentucky, we got kinda bummed out and ended up not being as 'crazy' in concert sometimes as we usual are. We were pissed at each other, sometimes, and lost our third mystery member 'Leo Chips'. It really fucked with our momentum. Cops are always gonna be cops, is all I have to say about it. Think about everything you may have read about it. The facts don't add up.

Who did the cover for your album? It's great.

Ah! Johnny Sampson in Chicago!

Are you planning any new releases?

The only thing The King Khan & BBQ Show are supposed to release is a split single with Fucked Up. I have a new Mark Sultan album coming out in a couple of months, as well as an album with Bloodshot Bill. Khan is working on a new album with the Shrines and he, too, has an album coming out with Bloodshot Bill as 'Tandoori Knights'.

Can you even remember in how many bands you've played and are involved right now? Tell us about them.

I can speak for myself: I was in The Spaceshits (with Khan). I was the singer. We put out a bunch of singles and 2 or three albums. A lot of stuff on SFTRI. It was fast 50's influenced punk rock'n'roll. I was in Les Sexareenos. I played drums and sang. We put out some singles and 2 albums. Mostly on SFTRI. It was fun, fratty 60's style garage punk. I was in Mind Controls. I played guitar and sang. An album came out on Dirtnap. It was 70's influenced punk rock'n'roll a la PVC. I was in Ciaoculos (with Khan). It also featured the Mojomatics. We put out one single. I am in The King Khan & BBQ Show. We have put out some singles and albums on labels like Goner, In The Red, Norton, Crypt, Fat Possum, etc.. We play a mix of 50's rock'n'roll/R&B/doo-wop with 60s garage punk/soul/VU and psyche, 70's punk and even 80's hardcore. I am playing as 'Mark Sultan'. I released an album and singles on labels like In The Red and Sub Pop. I play the same styles as KK&BBQ, but with more psyche and pop and even noise and country. I play as 'BBQ'. I put out one of the last albums on Bomp! It is a one-man band. I have a band with Bloodshot Bill. We have an album coming out on Norton. Rockabilly-style. I also play with Khan and Black Lips in 'The Almighty Defenders'. It is fun garage punk shit with a BIT of a gospel influence. We have an album on Vice. I have been in some other bands too, but just playing. Even played drums in Demon's Claws for a while.

Is it easy playing in a two man band?

It is easier than a 4-piece. Especially when travelling. We have hardly any equipment. It's awesome. So we can just rent a car. We are like brothers, so things usually are very smooth.

What are you listening to right now?

I'm listening right now as I type this to The Human Expression.

Where do you get your crazy stage outfits?

Khan's talented wife Lil makes everything. She rules.

What's your relationship with In The Red like? How many million $ you would require to sign to a major label?

We are actually FRIENDS with the owner Larry. He is a great dude. Awesome. He is only one guy, though, so some things get complicated, but he does a great job and has good taste, hahahaha! We would sign to a major if we could retain all artistic control, made a lot of money and were able to play late night television and offend normal people. We have paid our dues!!!!!!!

Anything else you'd like to add?

No!
